Nature/Wildlife  Definitions (S.P.F.)

‘Nature’ is the broader and less restrictive definition.  Within it there’s a much stricter division called ‘Wildlife’. Any qualifying ‘Wildlife’ image can be entered in the ‘Nature’ section of a  competition but not all ‘Nature’ images qualify as ‘Wildlife.

NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY INCLUDES all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archaeology. It EXCLUDES human created hybrid plants, cultivated plants, feral animals, domestic animals, or mounted specimens.

A 'Nature' image should tell a story.  It should NOT include man-made objects unless they are an integral part of the story.

BUT

Leg rings, tags, radio collars and other tracking devices ARE allowed.

'Nature' INCLUDES images taken in controlled conditions such as zoos, game parks, botanical gardens, aquariums etc. (but note the rule above about man-made objects).

On the other hand:

'Wildlife' EXCLUDES images taken in controlled conditions such as zoos, game parks, botanical gardens, aquariums etc.
